Tips for Students Moving Back Home from Abroad

DATE: 04/28/13

As the end of the school year approaches, it’s almost time for students studying abroad to move back home for the summer break. For some students, the semester will be their last as they graduate from college and come back home for good. For others, the move back home will only be temporary as they enjoy a few months off of school for the summer. Whatever the situation, moving back home after studying abroad is a pretty big task. You must have all of your belongings packed up and ship back home at the end of the semester. Here are some tips to make it a little easier:

  • Start packing early—Get a head start on your packing so you aren’t rushing at the last minute. Start by packing up the items you don’t really use on a daily basis, such as books you’re finished with, seasonal clothes, etc.
  • Pack with care—You want to make sure all of your belongings make it home safely. Don’t just jam everything into a box. Take time to choose good boxes, pack your items carefully, use plenty of inner-packaging materials, and so on.
  • Choose a reputable shipping company—The right shipping company will ensure your belongings get shipped home safely, quickly, and at a cost you can afford. Amerijet offers student cargo shipping services from destinations across the Caribbean, including Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, and more.
