Shipping Animals – Making Sure Your Pet is Comfortable

Shipping Animals – Making Sure Your Pet is Comfortable

DATE: 03/16/10

When you’re shipping animals, you always want to make certain the animal enjoys a safe, comfortable trip. The more comfortable the animal is during shipping, the less stressful the trip will be. Thankfully, there are several simple steps you can take to make sure your pet is comfortable during shipping.

• Find a reliable shipping company—Not all shipping companies have experience shipping animals. Some shipping companies only handle animal shipments on an infrequent basis, so they aren’t fully trained or equipped to make sure your pet is comfortable. Look for a shipping company that specializes in animal shipping and that boasts extensive experience handling animals.

• Give your pet a large enough crate—You want to make sure your pet has a travel kennel that gives it enough room to be comfortable. The kennel should offer your pet enough room to lay down and to move around a little bit. It should also have room for the pet’s food, water, and other small items.

• Include a toy or other familiar item—By giving your pet its favorite toy or blanket, you help make this new environment a little more familiar and comfortable. Just make sure not to include too many personal items as they could get lost during shipping. One toy or small blanket should suffice. Amerijet has been shipping animals of all types for more than 30 years. Our staff is fully trained to give your animal the attention it needs to enjoy a safe, comfortable trip.
