The Southeastern U.S. is on a strong growth path, supported by a diversified economy.

The Southeastern U.S. is on a strong growth path, supported by a diversified economy. Atlanta is the Southeast’s largest economy and distribution hub with a population of 5.8 million, ranking it the tenth largest metro area in the United States. In recent decades, the region’s economy has diversified from its roots in textiles and light manufacturing into more knowledge-based industries such as advanced manufacturing, technology and energy.

The manufacturing sectors of aerospace and aviation, medical devices and supplies, and automotive continue to expand. With established facilities by the likes of NASA and Lockheed Martin, the Southeast U.S. accounts for more than 20 percent of the country’s total space vehicle and missile manufacturing facilities, according to IBIS World. Automakers and OEM parts makers continue to set up shops in states such as Alabama and the Carolinas.

Diversified Southeast U.S. exports

Freight forwarders, direct shippers and distributors in the Southeast region primarily use truck for outbound freight, even when finished product is ultimately bound for export by air. Amerijet International Airlines. is a leading all-cargo air carrier offering dedicated B767 and B727 freighter service from Miami International Airport (MIA) to 38 destinations in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America. Amerijet also carries southeast U.S. exports bound for deep South America, Europe and the Mideast through its interline partners

From the Southeast, Amerijet operates daily, scheduled truck service to MIA. “We run an overnight truck to Miami airport from Atlanta, drawing freight from throughout Georgia, the Carolinas, Alabama and Tennessee,” said Douglas Crowe, Southeast Regional Sales Manager at Amerijet International.

Amerijet’s top air exports from the region are aerospace equipment, medical supplies and automotive parts. Textiles, processed food and even fresh beef are also among commonly shipped goods to the Caribbean and Latin America. In response to the hurricanes that ravished Puerto Rico and the Lesser Antilles/Caribbean last year, Amerijet continues to ship construction materials, retail goods and food to the region. It serves San Juan, Puerto Rico with 6 times weekly service, and other direct flights to points in the Caribbean.

Amerijet handles commodities requiring special handling such as perishables, live animals and hazardous materials. In fact, the dedicated cargo air carrier is one of only a few freighter operators fully certified to transport all types and classes of dangerous goods in accordance with IATA specifications, including electronics and recreational vehicles with Class 9 hazmat lithium-metal (non-rechargeable) or lithium-ion (rechargeable) batteries.

Amerijet is known for high touch, customized service given its versatility in handling air freight that other carriers don’t take. “At Amerijet, we are very customer focused. Our goal is to answer all queries and customer emails within 15 minutes,” Crowe said, noting its Southeast U.S. sales managers regularly visit customers every three to six months.

If you are seeking a reliable air carrier and transportation specialist from the Southeast U.S. to Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Latin America and beyond, call Amerijet’s Atlanta branch office at (305) 506-2969, or email sales.atl@app-wpprod-prod-eastus2-001.azurewebsites.net.
