As a shipper, you are responsible for packing your cargo. It must withstand handling and must not pose a safety hazard to people or property.
Package your shipment to:
- Withstand physical handling.
- Withstand pressure of up to 60 lbs. per square foot.
- Slide on any surface.
- Withstand a 12-inch drop to any surface.
- Tolerate 60 seconds in the rain.
Pack perishable shipments to endure up to 24 hours in transit. All transit points we serve have coolers and freezers for freight storage to ensure the cool-chain integrity of your perishable cargo. Upon request, we can arange for your shipment to be replenished with dry ice.
Please contact your local Amerijet office for specific packing requirements if you are shipping:
- Oversized freight.
- Live animals.
- Hazardous material.
- Human remains.
Helpful Packing Hints
- Use shrink wrap to protect packages and pallets from bad weather.
- Use permanent markers to label package(s).
- Remove old labels and obliterate old marking on package(s).
- Use original packaging when available.
- Don't ship in used or worn cardboard boxes.
- Use proper inner packaging (i.e., Styrofoam inserts, Styrofoam "peanuts", bubble wrap).
- Don't use improper inner packaging (i.e., cloth,. blankets).
- Do not overpack.
