FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – Amerijet International, Inc.,
the Ft. Lauderdale-based international cargo transportation
and logistics provider, reached a new milestone in the commercial
aviation industry by achieving the first ever FAA certification
to begin Parabolic Flight Operations. The certification enables
Amerijet to move forward with new business opportunities in
partnership with Dania Beach-based Zero Gravity (ZERO-G ®)
Corporation.
ZERO-G is a privately held space entertainment and tourism
company whose mission is to make the excitement and adventure
of space accessible to the public. Zero-G and Amerijet entered
into partnership in 2003 and have been working together to
develop and launch The ZERO-G Experience™, which includes
a full-day program led by a veteran astronaut in which a Flyer
(the customer) experiences Martian, Lunar and Zero Gravity
conditions created during parabolic flight maneuvers.

This commercial weightless flight experience, unveiled today
in New York, is similar to the flights used by NASA to train
their astronauts and used by Ron Howard in the filming of
Apollo 13.
“This certification is the first of its kind ever authorized
in the world, as no other commercial airline has ever been
allowed to conduct this type of operation,” said Derry
Huff, Amerijet’s Director of Flight Operations. “Previously,
only military or space agencies (NASA) have ever conducted
these types of operations.”
David Bassett, Amerijet’s Chairman and CEO, said that
to gain the certification, Amerijet specially modified the
Boeing 727-200 aircraft – also known as G-Force One
-- and also underwent specialized training for the crew. “We’ve
been working diligently with ZERO-G for more than a year now
and we couldn’t be more excited to move forward with
this partnership. It’s a whole new dimension of commercial
flight and certainly a dynamic opportunity for Amerijet.”

the Zero Gravity parabolas, with altitude marked in feet
along the vertical axis and time in seconds marked on
the horizontal axis. Each peak provides 25 seconds of
weightlessness, but each valley makes you feel 1.8 times
heavier than you do on the ground. |
Dr. Peter Diamandis, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Zero Gravity
Corporation, said, “ZERO-G is pleased to have partnered
with Amerijet; they have proven to be a very capable organization
committed to our success. We look forward to a very long and
profitable relationship.”
